Our Impact

In the years following the 1994 genocide, Rwanda's people, including KAAC-R Board member Bishop John Rucyahana, have worked hard to face the past and move forward on a path of healing. To become an independent and prosperous nation, Rwanda needs to raise up leaders of impeccable character and enduring faith, and this is where Kids Across Africa Camps-Rwanda will have a vital impact on the country's development. Camp participants will realize their leadership potential through sports activities and as they discover their real worth and significance as a beloved child of God.
Equipped as servant leaders, participants will be empowered to change their communities upon their return. Rwanda’s past includes youth participation in the destruction of the country; KAAC-R will enable youth to transform the future of their country. Youth will be able to make decisions based on Christian leadership that they have learned through some form of sports—lessons that are not currently taught in the family or in schools. Thus, KAAC-R will bring an added value to the already ongoing transformation of the country through each participant of every camp seesion that is held.
Finally, Kids Across Africa Camps-Rwanda also seeks to create a financial impact in Rwanda, fostering economic growth through employment and through purchase of resources locally where possible. Plans call initially for eighty percent of the funding and staff to come from America and twenty percent from Rwanda. Our desire is to reverse these percentages within six years, with the ultimate goal of an indigenously self-sustained facility.
