the big and small are making it happen...
Each day we smile as we watch the Lord make this plan He has for Rwanda a reality. We are so thankful for the large events, such as the Ride for Rwanda and the photography exhibit in Kansas City. At each event the Lord allowed people to use the gifts and talents he has given to them to do His work.
Who knew that riding a bike in the rain for 100 km or taking snaps with a camera would allow orphans in Rwanda to experience one of the best weeks of their life? While the big events seem to be the ones that are spoken of most often, we wish to share with you a few of the smaller, tender moments we have the joy of experiencing in our office.
Last week KAAC~R was given a check from the hands of a bright eyed, all smiles, 4th grade girl. Together with her mom, she bakes chocolate chip molasses cookies and sells them to the employees at the Sight and Sound Theater right here in Branson. They take no credit for the work they do and as far as I know, the people at the theater are not aware who has set up the little bake sale. We just wanted to say thank you for your SWEET support of KAAC~R.
Another fun story comes to us from a family in Florida. The Kanakuk K-Kountry campers, a brother and sister, each wanted to help make a difference in Rwanda and this is how they did it…One used her talents to design a t-shirt that said, “I’m so Third, I’m Fourth.” She then sold the shirt and sent the money she raised to KAAC~R. Thank you!
Her brother took a little different route and at his birthday party, he gave up all gifts, instead asking for donations to help make a difference in Rwanda through the work of Kids Across Africa Camp. Many of us have had a birthday party and know the joy of tearing the paper and seeing what is hidden underneath. What a special boy it takes to give up his gifts to make a difference for children he has not even met. Although, he did not have the “tear of the paper excitement,” I believe his excitement continues as he knows that he is making the dreams of others a reality.
To the parents of all of these kiddos ~ YOU are amazing. Thank you for rearing children who are aware of a world that is bigger than they are and allowing them to act on the Love of Christ they wish to share.
Not a day passes in this office that we do not feel the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and watch his hand move. Some days it comes as gentle as a breeze through our window and other days He shows up and moves mountains. But every day, every day, He shows up and His hands move.
Will you allow Him to use you? Will you listen to His quiet whisper and move mountains? Will you bake cookies, ride a bike, paint pictures and then host an art show…What mountain will you move and how will you do it?
